The Research Center for Beaver County was founded in 1971 by the Beaver County Commissioners, the Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls, and the Beaver Falls Historical Society. It became a non-profit corporation in 1981.
The mission of the Research Center is to provide a central site for study, reference, research and preservation of Beaver County documents and books, both genealogical and historical.
Our holdings include several thousand books of local interest, thousands of files containing newspaper clippings and pamphlets on local topics, files on surnames, businesses, towns, churches and schools, and newspaper obituaries. The Research Center also has a large collection of Bound Manuscripts. Bound manuscripts are primary sources that provide a wealth of information about local history, community and individuals that have not been previously published. Some of the different kinds of manuscripts include minute books of town, township and county governments, and various organizations, hotel registers, tax collector’s records, doctor account books, scrap books, personal day books and church records. The Beaver County Genealogical Society also houses its collection at the center.
The Research Center for Beaver County is free and open to the public but monetary donations are accepted to help with preservation.
