The West Virginia Genealogical Society, Inc., was organized in 1983, serving Kanawha County, West Virginia. Membership is open to all who are interested in genealogical or historical research and in the objectives of the Society, which are:
to increase interest in genealogical research and compilation.
to aid members in the act of genealogical research and compilation.
to acquaint members with sources of genealogical research.
to serve as a medium of exchange of genealogical information.

Dues
Annual membership is $15.00 per person and includes four issues of the LOG. Dues are payable annually on each members membership date. MembershipBy becoming a member you will be supporting and insuring the future of the Society and it's efforts to preserve and maintain genealogical and historical records and materials for generations to come.
Meetings
The society meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm. at the WVGS Library.
Library--COME AND VISIT USThe WVGS Library is located in Kanawha County, near Elkview on Route 119. From the Elkview exit on interstate 79, it is one mile north on Route 119, 5153 N. Elk River Road (next to the Blue Creek Post Office) on the left. The Library is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am. to 7:00pm. and on Saturdays from 10:00am. to 2:00pm. everyone is welcome. The Society does not have a staff of researchers, but does have a correspondence committee. Phone (304)965-1179.

QueriesQueries should be type written or printed legibly and include the name and address of the person to whom replies should be sent. Queries are free to members, $3.00 for the first 50 words for non-members. There is no limit on how many queries may be submitted.
PublicationsThe LOG (Ledger of Genealogy) is a quarterly publications that consists of articles of general genealogical value, source data from originial documents and other material of interest to researchers. The LOG is published in March, June, September and December of each year. The LOG began publication in March of 1984, and all back issues are available for purchase at $3.00 per copy. The Society also publishes other special works that can be purchased from the Society. Publications to see a list of our published resources.
