KYOWVA Genealogical and Historical Society

President's Message

Dear Members:

When you read this some of our members will have gone to Fort Wayne, Indiana to the Allen County Public Library, home of the largest genealogy collection outside of Salt Lake City.

We are looking forward to the upcoming year for KYOWVA. Ernie Wright has done a good job bringing in good speakers for the coming year. Please come out to each meeting to learn more about our history and let us help you with your genealogy research. Our first meeting of the 2008-2009 year will take place September 16, 2008 on the third Tuesday of September. It is our annual picnic and will be held at the Harveytown Picnic Shelter off of Johnstown Road in the Harveytown section of Huntington. Just bring a covered dish, and join the fun.

The Society would like to thank Ivan Chatterton for his numerous sales of the Owens-Illinois History Book. Ivan is my father and the husband of Vice President, Mary Ann Chatterton. He retired from Owens and has wonderful memories and knows a lot of the retirees.

We are beginning to collect additional information for another book on Owens. If you have or know of anyone who has old Owens-Illinois newsletters or any other information that would help us tell Owens's story, please let us know.

Debbie Campbell, President
